“Journey into Darkness” – Experiential Learning and Empathy
“An Innovative Educational Initiative for Breaking Stereotypes in Childhood and Adolescence”.

The program “Journey into Darkness” is the flagship experiential activity of the Accessibility Support Academy, aiming to cultivate social awareness in students from an early age. Based on modern pedagogical theories that prioritize experiential learning over the passive transfer of information, the program invites children to explore the world through the senses of touch and hearing.Using specially designed equipment such as simulation masks and white canes, students respectfully “enter” the everyday reality of people with visual impairments.

This is a transformative process for children’s thinking, in which disability is no longer approached with fear or pity but is recognized as a different, yet equally dignified, life experience. Through this initiative—extensively analyzed in our scientific publications—students learn the value of appropriate support, respect for personal space, and solidarity.“Journey into Darkness” is not merely a school activity; it is the foundation for creating a new generation of conscious citizens, capable of building a world where diversity is our strength.
